Girls' night out!

I'm getting together with some friends tonight to watch Mama Mia... I'm excited to watch it and I keep going to this site and if you scroll down the list of clips click on the one that says "honey, honey" I love it! It's so catchy and cute. Hopefully the rest of the movie will be just as good...but I'm excited to at least see the rest of this song!

little trip down memory lane...

A few of my friends are doing this so I thought I'd join them....I'd love to hear your memory(s)!

The instructions are as follows:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

See you on Memory Lane!!

ughhh!

I did a stupid thing yesterday and I ate breakfast as usual and then...I ate frosting! and drank some milk...and ate more frosting!...drank water and then ended the day with piece of cake!!! ughhh!!! I know...it was NOT the smartest thing!

I am feeling yucky too! I have a headache and everytime I see the lone piece of cake and cupcake we have left over from yesterday I feel like throwing up! So, I'm going to do it again...NO SUGAR for 2 weeks. No sugar, lots of fruits and vegtables, whole grains, exercise and no eating out. I'm starting officially tomorrow but I'm definately preparing myself today b/c sugar sounds like the last thing I want to eat. I am looking forward to feeling better!

To good health!

Taylor's Pink Party...July 15, 2008

I can't believe she's already two! Yesterday was her birthday and we had such a fun day!
Last week we made up some party invites and took them around to some of our friends, and emailed them to others that don't live close. We borrowed a great idea to have a "pink party" from our friends Curtis and Sarah and it was so great! It was simple and fun and the little girls loved it.
the invites ended up being really simple b/c I didn't have much time, but I thought they turned out cute and who doesn't like being given a chocolate bar?
Taylor and I doing our "delivery"

this was at the park...it was a beautiful evening. The weather here is so nice! It averages in the eighties all summer. If it's 90 degrees outside then it's a "super" hot day! (it's perfect!)
Yeah, the cake was....interesting! It fell apart in the middle so I cute it in half and turned it into a big 'T'. I also had to use tons of frosting to "doctor" it up...
We had so many wonderful friends there. I love our friends here. Everyone is so nice an supportive of each other.

here is the group of gals sporting the most pink...I loved it. The 3 girls in the middle were so cute and excited about their allover pink look. They had pink socks, hair accessories, jewelry, etc. They were so, so cute!

I loved the little girls that were there. They were so excited and sweet.

The kids were waiting for Tom to blow bubbles...the soapy kind

the dads that were there were great sports and participated in a dad bubble blowing contest. It was great entertainment!
whoa there! look at that bubble!
yeah, my guy did the worst...I don't think I saw a bubble from him bigger than the size of a golf ball...but he sure is cute in that birthday hat! The little guy with him is pretty cute too! ;-)
We ended the evening back at home talking to Grandmas and Grandpas. It was Tom's mom's birthday too so Taylor and her always have to have a special birthday moment.

Butterflies and Bugs...

This last Saturday we went to the Butterfly Pavilian in Denver. They were having their "Insectival!", which basically meant a bigger crowd. It was a pretty neat place though. There is a part of it where you walk through this beautiful greenhouse basically and there are (I think they said 1200) species of butterflies flying all around you. There was also other bugs and an underwater part. Anyway, here are some pics from our weekend:
the fam...as you can see Taylor is beyond thrilled about posing for this picture!
okay, these are walking sticks....my all time favorite bug!!! I mean it too. I've been telling Tom about them since we've been together and it was his first time to see them. When I was a kid I found great joy in finding a big rock and turning it over so I could look at and play with the bugs underneath. And, I LOVED playing with walking sticks! I don't think you can find them in Utah (where Tom grew up) but I found them a lot in Georgia and in Missouri. They're so big and they look just like sticks! Isn't that cool? Or have I just clarified myself as a weird-o? I HATE bugs in my home and outside biting me (or anyone else), but other than that I still think they're pretty cool!
I thought it was pretty neat that we all got to hold "Rosie- the Tarantula". Our kids thought it was neat too (even Max).

I think Max thought Amanda was neat!
We also went swimming at the healthclub I work at. It was our first time to go swimming this summer. Last summer, Taylor and I went quite a bit, but I haven't managed to gain the know how or the guts to take both kids by myself so this was our first.
the cute kiddos and me...and my lovely farmers tan!

Taylor and Tom had fun swimming around...

4th of July Holiday

We had a great few days last week. We left on Wednesday morning and drove to Tom's parents in northern Utah. It was great getting to see our family even though it was for such a short time. Thursday we went to one of our favorite places to eat, Costa Vida for lunch and then we went to the American West Heritage Center in Logan, Utah. Then we went to our brother Mar's house in Utah for a big family BBQ.

Friday morning we ran in a super fun 5k. Then we went to the park in Riverside, Utah (where Tom grew up) for the smallest parade I've ever seen, games, then a family picnic that afternoon followed by more fun at the Riverside park and then the firework show, which was really great for such a tiny town!

We left to come back home on Saturday morning. We stopped in Sandy, Utah to see my cousin for a few minutes and then drove through Colorado to Glenwood Springs and stayed the night there. Sunday we drove the rest of the way home and learned a very important lesson and that is to NEVER drive home on I-70 East on a Sunday, especially after a holiday weekend! It was only supposed to take 3 1/2 hours on Sunday to get home but it took an extra 4 hours because the traffic was so crazy! I think at one point it took us about a half hour to go 5 miles! Crazy! Well, we'll hopefully never do that again. It was a gorgeous drive though! Glenwood Springs was a cute, mountain town (about 40 miles north of Aspen) and we drove through Vail and lots of other touristy towns. We saw lots of waterfalls, the beautiful Colorado river and it was all just breathtaking! I love Colorado! Anyway, here a just a couple (plus 18) pictures from our trip:
Taylor looking at some animals at the America West Heritage Center. My brother in law and his family volunteer here so we all got to go and see it. The kids enjoyed all the friendly animals.
the fam at the farm...
oops! I should have turned these pics! Oh well. This is our Max (on the bottom) and his cousin, whose nickname is Max and they were born on the same day too!
Two cute little guys!
This is our sister in laws Amanda and Colleen and our neice Sierra (Colleen's daughter). We all got up at the crack of dawn Friday morning to run in the Beaver Dam 5k. It was great!

Sierra ran the whole thing except the last couple hundred yards with me. It was her first time to run 3 miles and she did amazing!
Tom hasn't been running much lately but he still ran it in under 23 minutes! He's an awesome runner. I love that we both love to run!
Our daughter the dog stalker! (Taylor LOVES dogs!)
Taylor and our nephew Jared.
This was so funny to me. This is how Taylor lounges with our dog Maddie at home. So, she evidently loved having a replacement dog for a while. Thankfully, this dog was so friendly.

The two cute men in my life!
This was Taylor's face during the whole firework show...

goofy girl!
At dinner at Beau Joe's in Glenwood Springs, CO. It was really good if you're ever stopping through!
That was our dinner, a medium pizza with wholewheat crust, pesto, chicken, artichoke hearts and mushrooms for 15 bucks. It was really good and so filling. We had 3 peices left we took the the hotel with us.
at the Marble Slab Creamery in downtown Glenwood Springs.
Downtown Glenwood Springs...It was such a quaint town! Gotta love the sparkly lights and the hanging baskets full of flowers. I loved it!
Well, that's what we've been up to lately! I hope everyone had a great 4th!
